1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and enter into a binding agreement. Users between 13 and 17 may use the service with verifiable parental or guardian consent. We do not knowingly provide service to anyone under 13.
By using MyDIYGarage you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms and that your use complies with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction.
2. Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. Use a strong, unique password and do not share your credentials.
Notify us immediately at hello@mydiygarage.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. We are not liable for losses caused by unauthorized use of your account if you failed to take reasonable steps to protect it.
You may not create accounts for others without their knowledge, operate multiple accounts to circumvent limits, or transfer your account to another person.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use MyDIYGarage to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the service
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, other accounts, or our infrastructure
- Transmit malware, viruses, or other harmful code
- Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Use the service for any commercial purpose not expressly authorized (e.g., reselling access)
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these restrictions at our sole discretion, without prior notice.
4. Subscriptions and billing
Subscription plans
MyDIYGarage offers a free tier and paid subscription plans (Garage, Pro). Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual cycle. All prices are listed in USD and are exclusive of applicable taxes. Applicable sales tax, if any, will be calculated and added at checkout based on your billing location.
Payment processing
Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. By subscribing, you authorize Stripe to charge your payment method on a recurring basis. Your payment information is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy; we do not store your raw card details.
Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal in your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to paid features until that date. We do not issue prorated refunds for partial billing periods.
Refunds
All subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us within 30 days at hello@mydiygarage.com and we will investigate.
Free tier changes
We may modify the features included in the free tier with 30 days' advance notice by email. We will not retroactively charge for data you have already logged on the free plan.
Price changes
We will provide at least 30 days' written notice before changing subscription prices. Price changes take effect at your next renewal after the notice period. Continuing to use the service after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new price.
California residents — Automatic Renewal
In compliance with California's Automatic Renewal Law (Business & Professions Code §17600 et seq.): your paid subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price until you cancel. You may cancel at any time through the billing portal in your account settings. If we fail to provide the required automatic renewal disclosures, you may be entitled to a refund for any charged amounts.
5. Your data
Your vehicle records, service logs, fuel logs, fault codes, and all other content you create in MyDIYGarage belong to you. We claim no ownership of your data.
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and transmit your data solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. We do not use your data for advertising, sale, or any purpose not described in our Privacy Policy.
On cancellation or account deletion, we will delete your data within 30 days, subject to the retention requirements described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Intellectual property
The MyDIYGarage name, logo, application software, and all content we produce (documentation, marketing materials, UI design) are owned by Nielsen Digital, LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from our intellectual property without written permission.
Nothing in these Terms grants you any ownership of our software or brand. Your subscription is a license to use the service, not a purchase of intellectual property rights.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
MyDIYGarage is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We make no representations or warranties that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of security vulnerabilities. We do not warrant the accuracy of OBD fault code descriptions or any maintenance information presented in the application.
Vehicle maintenance decisions are yours alone. Data logged in MyDIYGarage is informational only. We are not a licensed mechanic, automotive engineer, or safety inspector. Do not rely solely on information in this application for vehicle safety decisions. Always consult a qualified professional for mechanical advice.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Force majeure
We are not liable for any failure or delay in providing the service caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, labor disputes, internet or telecommunications failures, third-party cloud provider outages (including AWS), government actions, or denial-of-service attacks. If such an event occurs, we will make reasonable efforts to restore the service as soon as practicable and will communicate the status to affected users.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law: Nielsen Digital, LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including but not limited to vehicle damage, mechanical failure, personal injury, loss of data, or lost profits — arising out of or related to your use of MyDIYGarage, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the service shall not exceed the amounts you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim. If you have not paid us anything (free plan), our liability is limited to $50 USD.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, so some of the above may not apply to you.
9. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Nielsen Digital, LLC and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising out of:
- Your use of MyDIYGarage in violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Any content you submit through the service that causes harm to a third party
10. Termination
You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. We will process the deletion and remove your data within 30 days.
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately and without notice if we determine, in our sole discretion, that you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or posed a security risk to the service or other users. We may also terminate the service entirely with 60 days' written notice.
Sections 5 (Your Data — data deletion obligations), 6 (Intellectual Property), 7 (Disclaimer), 8 (Limitation of Liability), 9 (Indemnification), 11 (Disputes), and 14 (General Provisions) survive termination.
11. Disputes and governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Informal resolution first
Before initiating any formal claim, you agree to contact us at hello@mydiygarage.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will do the same. Both parties will have 30 days to attempt informal resolution before either party may pursue arbitration or other formal proceedings.
Binding arbitration
If informal resolution fails, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service — including questions of arbitrability — shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules, except as set forth below. The arbitration will be conducted in Austin, Texas, or by videoconference at the option of the consumer. The arbitrator's decision will be final and binding, and judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Either party may bring qualifying claims in small claims court in lieu of arbitration. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent irreparable harm.
Opt-out right: You may opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing legal@mydiygarage.com with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out" and your account email address. If you opt out, disputes will be resolved in Texas state or federal court.
WAIVER OF CLASS ACTION AND JURY TRIAL. BY AGREEING TO THESE TERMS, YOU WAIVE YOUR RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, CLASS-WIDE ARBITRATION, PRIVATE ATTORNEY GENERAL ACTION, OR ANY OTHER REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING AGAINST MYDIYGARAGE. ALL DISPUTES MUST BE BROUGHT IN YOUR INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY. YOU ALSO WAIVE YOUR RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL FOR ANY DISPUTE SUBJECT TO ARBITRATION UNDER THIS SECTION.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the service evolves. For material changes, we will notify registered users by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
We maintain a version number and effective date at the top of this page. You can always find the current Terms at mydiygarage.com/terms.

14. General provisions
Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Nielsen Digital, LLC regarding your use of MyDIYGarage and supersede all prior agreements, representations, and understandings between the parties relating to the subject matter hereof.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed if modification is not possible. The remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
Waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms on one occasion will not constitute a waiver of our right to enforce that provision or any other provision on any future occasion. No waiver of any provision will be effective unless made in writing and signed by an authorized representative of Nielsen Digital, LLC.
Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of substantially all of our assets, with notice to you.
